Female Horror Authors – Amanda Stevens

[Amanda Stevens]

Amanda Stevens is the next horror author on my female horror author reading list, and for this challenge, I read the first book in Amanda’s The Graveyard Series titled The Restorer.

Amanda Stevens is an American award-winning mystery, thriller, romance and young adult author. She has written more than 50 novels, which have been described as atmospheric and eerie. I’ve never heard of Amanda before creating the reading list, so I was interested to see what kind of writer she was.

The Restorer by Amanda Stevens

[The Restorer by Amanda Stevens]

The Restorer is a modern gothic novel about a woman called Amelia Gray, who is a cemetery restorer with the ability to see the dead. Ever since she discovered her gift, her father (who also can see the dead) has warned her against interacting or even acknowledging the dead and provided her with strict rules to follow. For years, she successfully follows these rules until a haunted police detective comes into her life and a young woman’s body is found in a graveyard she is restoring.

This story had me hooked from beginning to end. I connected with Amelia, and I thoroughly enjoyed the story. The story mixes the paranormal and crime genres together, which is something I like to do in my own writing. The Restorer was a spooky read with a plot that made you want to know what happens next, and I had the ‘aha!’ moment when the killer was revealed. After reading this book, I am keen to read the rest of the books in the series, and any other books Amanda has written – she’s now on my ‘author I like’ list.

You know, I am glad that I started this reading challenge because I have found some new authors and learned a lot from all of them. I’m now looking forward to reading the next author on my list, which is Nancy A. Collins.

Have you read any of Amanda Stevens’ novels? If you have, then feel free to comment below with your recommendations.

Keep writing, folks!
