2014 is here and while 2013 didn’t end on a high note that I desperately wanted it wasn’t all that disappointing. Yes, I have faced a lot of rejection, and at times considered giving up; however, once I stopped with the negativity and looked at what I have achieved I knew I couldn’t give up.
So for 2014, I have big plans. I will be finally writing that novel; I have given myself this year to draft, edit, and submit. I also have another novel in mind, which I’ve started writing; only a page, but it is a start. I’m not sure which one to continue with, though. I did experience my first serious case of writer’s block. I struggled to write the first page. I suppose it’s because I haven’t planned it. I was trying to go with the flow, have an idea, and just go with it, but that’s not me. I can write a flash fiction or short story like that, but a novel that gets more complex needs a plan. So I am going back to plan B, I will finish planning my original novel and get it written and once I’m writing that I will be starting the plan for the other novel. Then I’ll have two novels to work with, well, that’s the plan, but you know how plans turn out, either way, there will be a novel.
I can’t believe how quickly 2013 has passed. However, I have gained a lot from that year. I have had three stories published, and I’ve started to believe in myself. I called myself a writer once lol. I know what I want now, and I know what I need to do, so it is time to stop talking and start doing.
I’m hoping this more positive way of thinking will gain me more success. You can’t get anywhere with this dream if you don’t believe in yourself or have nothing but negative thoughts. So 2014 I’m putting all that aside and concentrating on racing to my dream because there can be miracles when you believe.
Keep writing, folks!
