Here’s my third drabble titled ‘Molly’s Nursery Rhyme’.

Molly’s Nursery Rhyme by Nicole J. Simms©

‘Hello,’ Molly called out.

No one replied.

Again, she had heard a bodiless voice singing, ‘Miss Molly had a dolly’. Molly knew the nursery rhyme, but Molly should have been Polly. However, the Molly version awakened a foggy memory.

The bedroom door creaked open, and light flooded the room. ‘You alright? Is your belly hurting again?’

Molly looked at her father. ‘Dad, who used to sing, “Miss Molly had a dolly”?’

His eyes widened. ‘Um… it was your mom. She used to sing it to you when you were poorly. Why?’

Molly gasped. ‘Really, my mom?’

‘Yes, honey, your mom.’

The End

Author’s note: I originally wrote this story for a story submission call that asked for a story with a music theme.

Come back tomorrow for another drabble. You can join the event here: https://www.facebook.com/events/375605662648575/
