Here’s my fourth drabble titled ‘My Neighbour’.

My Neighbour by Nicole J. Simms©

‘Hello, Betty.’ Ignoring my greeting, Betty, my neighbour, stared at her front door. ‘Are you alright?’ My eyes followed Betty’s. She wasn’t normally rude. In fact, she loved to chat. ‘Should I call Sophie for you?’ Betty remained quiet, eyes fixed on her door.

The sound of an ambulance siren caught my attention. I turned and spotted the ambulance park outside of Betty’s house. Two paramedics rushed out, and Betty’s front door swung open. ‘Quick,’ Sophie, Betty’s daughter, yelled. ‘She’s not breathing.’

I stepped forward. ‘Oh dear, Betty, it looks like someone…’ I looked back and gasped. Betty had gone.

The End

Author’s note: Some people say you can see dead people and not know. Now, wouldn’t that be creepy?
